VZ Botanicals was established by Melanie Vonzabuesnig. After overcoming her own hair loss problem, Melanie felt compelled to help other women. When Melanie Vonzabuesnig experienced severe hair loss as a young woman, she felt terrified, confused and all alone. She quickly became frustrated by the lack of answers, support and empathy from the medical community prompting her to look toward alternative medicine for answers and solutions. Aromatherapy scalp treatments proved to be a powerful and effective solution to her hair loss. Melanie's Story was published in Natural Health Magazine. After reading her story, hundreds of women contacted Melanie for support and solutions. That’s when Melanie realized that she was not all alone. Many other women were also suffering silently with hair loss issues. From then on Melanie focused her time and energy understanding female hair loss and exploring natural solutions. Melanie became a certified aromatherapist so she could truly understand and explain the subtle but powerful effect of aromatherapy in reference to healthy hair growth. Her knowledge and experience allows her to create effective custom formulas for all types of scalp and hair disorders.
Information on Melanie’s hair loss solutions have been published in many reputable sources including, The Truth About Female Hair Loss, by Spencer Kobren, Naturally Healthy Skin by Stephanie Tourles, and Alternative Healing by Bill Gottleib.
Melanie is an active contibutor as female hair loss expert with AllExperts.com. She is also a top contributor for hair related Yahoo questions.
Melanie's own book Hair Loss in Women...Getting to the Root of the Problem has given many women a clear understanding of female hair loss. This knowledge enables women to discover the underlying issues surrounding their own hair loss and to make educated decsions to improve their condition.
Horrified by my own reflection, I fell to the cool tile of my bathroom floor and sobbed uncontrollably. "Why God, why are you doing this?" I demanded. It was now impossible to conceal my baldness with the few strands of hair remaining on my scalp. It was inevitable...soon I would be completely bald.
It all began when I was seven years old. I can still remember the day. Mom sat me in a chair under the big oak tree in our yard and began brushing my long chestnut brown hair. The sun shone in my face as I dangled my bare feet in the soft green grass. This deeply relaxing moment was abruptly interrupted when Mom discovered a small, perfectly round bald patch at the nape of my neck.
The patch eventually filled in with new hair, but soon another patch appeared. At times I had two or three bald patches at once. Although they were well hidden beneath my long layers of hair, knowing they were there made me feel like a mangy old dog.
My parents carted me from doctor to doctor until we finally accepted the fact that there was no known cause or cure for the mysterious, but common hair follicle disorder called alopecia areata. I didn't like it but I learned to live with it - until many years later.
At age 32 my hair started falling out by the handfuls and this time it wasn’t stopping. At first I thought the hair loss was a severe case of alopecia areata. It wasn’t until many years later; I learned I was experiencing yet another form of hair loss called telogen effluvium. I was told that it’s not unusual for women to experience more than one form of hair loss simultaneously, and that having any type of hair loss could be a catalyst for developing another.
Because I was deemed otherwise healthy, I was advised to get a good wig and get on with my life. With an ache in my heart and a sick feeling in my stomach I took a deep breath, and pushed through the door of the wig shop. The sales person asked what my hair - when I used to have hair, looked like. She quickly proceeded to locate a dark brown shoulder length wig and plopped in on my head. "There" she said, "you look beautiful, just like a movie star."
"I look like an Elvis impersonator," I cried as I flung the thick hairy bush off my head and left the shop. I didn't want to be bald. I didn't want to be Elvis. I just wanted to be me again and without hair that seemed impossible.
Eventually I purchased a more suitable, less “wiggy” looking wig. At the same time I began investigating natural hair loss solutions. Of all the natural solutions for hair loss, I was most intrigued by aromatherapy.
Learning about how essential oils can help stimulate the scalp into producing new hair, was fascinating. Each type of oil had its own function such as cleansing, nourishing, increasing circulation, supplying oxygen, balancing ph levels etc. As I continued experimenting, I learned which oils complemented each other and began mixing my own formulas.
Every evening I massaged the essential oil blends into my scalp. Their soothing aroma seemed to lure me into a deep sleep. In the morning I washed the oils out. Instinctively I knew this was going to work for me.
Becoming absorbed in learning everything I could about the healing powers of aromatherapy allowed me to stop focusing on my hair loss. Taking control of my own health gave me a new sense of confidence. I learned that aromatherapy works on many different levels. It works in harmony with the body's own natural healing system.
Soon I felt an overall sense of well-being. I was beginning to look and feel better. Within three months of applying the oils I began to notice very fine, soft new hairs covering my scalp. Later the hair began to thicken and darken and I was finally able to discard my wig! My new hair was dark, shiny and healthy looking. I vowed to keep it that way by continuing to use aromatherapy and natural hair care products.
For over seventeen years now I've been able to maintain healthy growing hair. I no longer experience alopecia areata symptoms but periodically I notice signs of telogen effluvium. Thankfully I now have the knowledge and experience to blend essential oil hair loss formulas. This knowledge gives me peace of mind as these formulas come to my rescue. I am always able to restore growth and minimize hair loss quickly and effectively, before any thinning become noticeable.
Losing my hair was a painful, life changing experience. But it was this experience that led me to explore aromatherapy and to experience the beauty and power of nature's gentle yet potent healing oils.
Almost all cases of female hair loss can be improved. Overall health, good nutrition and natural hair loss remedies can greatly improve most female hair loss conditions but it is also important to determine the type and cause of hair loss, and to address the underlying issues.

Quality of Essential Oils
VZ Botanicals uses high quality, therapeutic grade essential oils in every formula. Using synthetic, adulterated or low quality essential oils will not produce desired results and may even have adverse effcts.
All essential oils are not created equally. Therapeutic results can only be achieved if high quality, unadulterated, true essential oils are used. Synthetic, adulterated or low quality essential oils will not produce desired results and may have adverse effects.
Essential oils come from various parts of plants such as flowers, blossoms, leaves, stems, seeds, roots, peels, bark, herbs, needles, twigs and cones. Each essential oil has over 100 unique intricately balanced components contributing to their healing powers. Precise measures must be taken to keep these healing components intact.
The crop, harvest, distillation and packaging methods must adhere to the highest standards in order to produce potent, therapeutic essential oils. Cutting corners on any of these steps may destroy the therapeutic components or lessen the healing potential.
Less reputable suppliers may sell essential oils which have been adulterated in order to keep costs down. Essential oils can be adulterated in a variety of ways. They can be diluted with vegetable oils, alcohol, synthetic material, or other similar but less expensive essential oils.
VZ Botanicals realizes the importance of using high quality essential oils. VZ Botanicals uses high quality ingredients in all formulas to ensure best possible results.
